Official Rally Event of the Clipsal 500 Adelaide

Welcome to THE CLIPSAL 500 ADELAIDE RALLY online


The CLIPSAL 500 ADELAIDE RALLY is the OFFICIAL RALLY EVENT of Australia’s most popular Motor Racing Festival, the CLIPSAL 500 ADELAIDE. The CLIPSAL 500 ADELAIDE RALLY will be conducted under a CAMS Permit.

Event Dates. The Rally will run from Monday 18 February starting in Shepparton through Thursday 21 February with the finish at Mallala Motor Sport Park (SA). The Presentation Luncheon will be held on Friday 22 February, Trackside, at the Royal Coach Motor Inn on Dequetteville Terrace. Extra Presentation Luncheon tickets are available.

Event Schedule. The 2008 Event will start at DECA in Shepparton on Monday with speed sub-events followed by a navigation section traveling to Swan Hill for the first night stop-over. Tuesday will start with a short navigation section to Mildura before speed sub-events at the Mildura Driver Training Centre followed by an observation route-chart section to Renmark for the Tuesday night stop-over. Wednesday will start with a navigation section from Renmark to Collingrove Hillclimb for lunch and then multiple ‘runs’ up the Collingrove course. Wednesday evening will be the Peter Lehmann Wines Dinner and overnight in Tanunda. Thursday is off to Mallala Motorsport Park for a full day of speed sub-events with the close of competition mid late afternoon.  Friday will be the Presentation Luncheon, your car on display trackside (Friday/Saturday/Sunday), all the action of the CLIPSAL 500 ADELAIDE and the RALLY Parade Lap(s) on the Sunday. Event Entry. Entry is by Invitation. Entry is limited to 60 Crews, made up of either Driver & Navigator or Driver & Co-Driver/Navigator (Double Driver). Entries will be accepted on order of receipt. Entry opens Monday 5 November 2007. Entry closes Friday 18 January 2008 or when fully subscribed. The Organisers reserve the right to refuse Entry in accordance with NCR 83.

Event Entry Fees. Entry Fee for Driver & Navigator (including Entry Reservation Deposit of $400.00) is $1885.00 per crew. Driver/Co-Driver – Navigator. Entry Fee for Double Driver (including Entry Reservation Deposit of $400.00) is $2185.00. All fees include GST. Entry is by mail by a completed Entry Form. Click here to download an Entry Pack.

Entry Form & Deposit. You will need to complete an entry form and return it to the CLIPSAL 500 ADELAIDE RALLY Office to be included on the Entry List. When the Organisers have received your completed Entry Form and Deposit, you will be sent the Acceptance of Entry documentation including your Tax Receipt/Invoice, Scrutiny Form, Accommodation Listing Form and Additional Crew Booking Form.
 
CAMS Club membership and L2S Licences. Make sure your CAMS Affiliated Car Club Membership and CAMS Licences will be current for 2007. The minimum CAMS Licence requirement for the Event is the L2S. This is available from CAMS.

Accommodation. The Organisers will be providing an Accommodation Listing for Shepparton, Swan Hill, Renmark and Tanunda. The Accommodation Listing will be sent with Acceptance of Entry documentation. No provision is made for accommodation in Adelaide for Thursday night or beyond.


Classes. The competition will be divided into the following classes;

Classic:                     Vehicles manufactured up to end 1975. Open.
Modern Classic:        Vehicles manufactured from 1976 to 1990. Open
Modern:                     Vehicles manufactured from 1990 to 2008. Open.
Holden vs Ford:         All Holden and Falcon vehicles
Mustang:                    All Mustang vehicles.
Super Cup:                 4WD/AWD. Open.
Porsche Cup:             All Porsche Vehicles (accept AWD). Open.

(Note: Event Classes may be altered to better reflect Accepted Entries)

Capacity Classes. Capacity classes within the above Categories and/or additional Categories will be determined at the discretion of the Organising Committee to reflect the Entry. Any Class which attracts less than three entries will be combined with next age or capacity Class at the discretion of the Organisers. Turbocharger/Supercharger equivalence factors apply.

Peter Brock Foundation. The Official Charity of the CLIPSAL 500 ADELAIDE RALLY is The Peter Brock Foundation. All Entrants are encouraged to be a part of the fund raising effort for the Foundation. Information kits on how to get involved in the fund raising will be provided to all Entrants. The Peter Brock Foundation is a Registered Charity and all donations are tax deductable.

Additional Crew and Friends. Crews, friends and family are more than welcome. If any Entrant is proposing to have additional road crew, family, friend, wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend, personnel trainer, photographer or agent etc follow the Event, there is a ‘Crew Booking Form’ that will advise the Organisers if any of the aforementioned require meals en-route or extra tickets to the Tanunda Dinner and/or Presentation Luncheon. Fees are applicable.

Navigation. There will be varied styles of Navigation including ‘RACV’ Maps, plotting by grid reference on 250,000:1 Maps and Route Charts, reading off a compass, traveling the road as mapped and being observant. All maps are supplied. The Organisers will conduct a Navigation School prior to the first Navigation and offer review each evening.

Navigation Equipment.  What navigators will need! A ‘Rally Roamer’ to read 250,000: 1,
a decent magnifying glass, highlighter pens, a clipboard, (A4 or A3 Size), clutch pencils and erasers. A Compass would be handy but the clear plastic Rally Roamer has a compass included, remembering that all maps read north.


Scrutiny Form. The Scrutiny Form is available here.  A hard copy will be sent with your Acceptance of Entry.

Scrutiny. Event Scrutiny will take place at Shepparton from 15:00 until 17:30, Sunday 17 February 2008. Regional and Interstate competitors can arrange Scrutiny through a CAMS Scrutineer in their area, (current details available from CAMS). All cars must be Scrutineered and passed prior to participation in any competition. Remember, there is no Scrutiny at the Event Start. An Event Scrutiny Form will be sent with Acceptance of Entry.
